Check Your Bank Account: Your NJ ANCHOR Payment Is on the Way

If you qualify for New Jersey’s ANCHOR property tax relief program, it’s time to start keeping an eye on your bank account.

The New Jersey Division of Taxation says 2025 ANCHOR payments begin September 15, 2026, and will continue on a rolling basis. Most applicants should receive their benefit within about 90 days of filing, unless the state needs additional information.

American dollar, money & banking

If you received last year’s ANCHOR benefit through direct deposit, New Jersey will generally use the same banking information for this year’s payment. That means the money might appear in your account without an envelope, check, or other bit of financial drama arriving in your mailbox.

How much should you look for?

For homeowners, the 2025 ANCHOR benefit is:

• $1,500 for eligible homeowners with New Jersey gross income of $150,000 or less.

• $1,000 for eligible homeowners with income between $150,001 and $250,000.

For eligible renters, the benefit is $450. Renters who were age 65 or older by December 31, 2025 receive an additional $250, bringing their benefit to $700.

If you filed a paper application, your payment will arrive by paper check rather than direct deposit. Online applicants were given the choice of direct deposit or a paper check.

Don’t see your payment yet?

Don’t panic. Payments are being issued on a rolling basis, so everyone will not receive their money on the same day.

You can check the status of your ANCHOR benefit through the New Jersey Division of Taxation’s online system.

One last tip: If you use direct deposit, check your bank account before assuming your ANCHOR payment hasn’t arrived. Your money might already be sitting there, quietly waiting for you to notice it.
