Lunch, Smiles, and Summer Support

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM (2.5 to 3 hrs. 1 day a week, or 1 day every other week):  During the summer, the Library partners with Toni’s Kitchen to supply lunches (sandwich, fruit, and snack) to children 17 and younger.  Lunches are picked up from Toni’s (corner of Union and S. Fullerton) between 11:15 and 11:30 am and is made available in the library’s cafe space between Noon and 2:00p.m. (clean-up is usually over by 2:15pm).  The library has a cart that can be used to pick up the lunches by foot; or people could use their car if they prefer.  Each daily shift is handled by one person.  There will be a library staffer on site to assist with questions/issues if needed.  The program starts on June 29 and runs through August (final date TBD).

Volunteers are needed to cover Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the summer lunch program, and Mondays starting on either July 20 or July 27.  Sign up is for one of those 3 days each week, with either 1 volunteer covering the same day every week, or with 2 volunteers sharing one of the days of the week as a shift.  (So, for example, 2 people could share the Tuesday slot; 2 people could share the Friday slot; and 2 people could share the Monday slot.  People could either alternate each week, or split up however works best for them based on vacations, etc.).

Interested volunteers should email friends@montclairlibrary.org.  The Friends can help facilitate pairing people who are looking to share a shift.
