Billed as a Town Hall meeting to address deficiencies in Montclair’s resources for its older citizens, mGAP convened sixty-some participants for a 2 1/2 hour session at the Union Congregational church in Montclair. All four of our towns wards were represented.

Ann Lippel, mGAP Chair, offered a power point presentation on the unique “Third Age” challenges facing residents of the town.

Participants then formed five facilitated discussion groups

  • Budget Equity
  • Housing/Property Taxes
  • Municipal Services
  • Senior Center
  • Neighborhood Ambassadorship

to express their concerns in these areas of municipal life. Afterwards, facilitators reported each group’s priorities to the larger group.

The meeting concluded with the distribution of Make Montclair Age Friendlier petitions for circulation to friends and neighbors. Meeting participants agreed to become mGAP Ambassadors.

Depending on continued funding and need, the Town Hall meetings could become quarterly events
