Montclair Township, NJ, is a community where experience and wisdom shape its vibrant character. With a growing population of residents aged 50 and older (34%), Montclair is embracing the needs and contributions of its senior community like never before. As nearly one in three residents falls into this age group, the township is evolving to ensure accessibility, engagement, and support for its older adults. Whether it’s through enhanced public services, social initiatives, or community programs, Montclair’s seniors are not just a demographic—they’re a driving force in the township’s culture and future.
Montclair Township is taking a bold step forward in enhancing the lives of its senior residents with the launch of the Montclair Modern Aging Collective (MMAC)—a dynamic partnership of leading nonprofits (mGAP, A.I.M, Do-Drop-Inn) and the Township, dedicated to reimagining aging in the community. At the heart of this initiative is The Center, a brand-new hub designed as a vibrant meeting place where seniors can connect, learn, and thrive.

More than just a gathering space, The Center will serve as a lifeline for engagement, wellness, and social connection, offering everything from educational workshops and wellness programs to technology training and intergenerational activities. MMAC’s mission is to ensure that Montclair’s aging population has access to the resources, support, and opportunities needed to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

With Montclair’s senior population steadily growing, The Center and MMAC are setting a new standard for how communities embrace and empower their older residents. Stay tuned as we unveil programs and initiatives that will make Montclair a leader in modern aging!
