New Jersey seniors may soon be eligible for valuable property tax relief programs, but completing the required paperwork can be challenging, especially when the process moves online.
To help residents understand the application process, the State of New Jersey will host an information session on Tuesday, July 7, covering the NJ PAS-1 application. This form is expected to be used for programs including Stay NJ, ANCHOR, and Senior Freeze benefits.
Following the state’s presentation, mGAP plans to offer one-on-one assistance sessions at the Mills Digital Lab for seniors who need help completing their applications online.
One of the first steps for many applicants will be creating an ID.me or Login.gov account. These secure accounts are often required to access government services and verify your identity online. They can also be used to access Social Security information and other federal services.
For seniors who are unfamiliar with these systems, setting up an account and navigating online forms can be frustrating. mGAP volunteers will be available to provide guidance and support throughout the process.
The assistance sessions are expected to take place mid July 15. Additional details will be announced after the state’s July 7 presentation.
As more government services move online, mGAP remains committed to helping older adults gain the skills and confidence needed to access important benefits and resources.
